Congratulations to a Fellow Women’s Baseball Player
6 Mar

Congratulations to Tiffany Brooks for being the “First American Female Pro Baseball Player of the 21st Century”!
You can find the press release here.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tiffany at the Arizona Cactus Classic last year and have been in touch with her over the past few months as she contacted me to see if I would like to join her and the American Liberty Belles in their recent Japan tournament. I was unfortunately unable to attend so have not have the pleasure of playing with her yet, but hopefully she will be able to continue to manage and play for the Liberty Belle’s so that I may be able to join her at their next tournament.
Congratulations to Tiffany, and thank you to her and to everyone who has helped to try to break down the barriers that make this such a feat. Hopefully it is another big step towards making women’s baseball a recognized sport, and hopefully help to get it added as an Olympic sport (more about that here).
Heres to a few other women who are helping make this happen (I am sure there are many out there, but these folks I know personally):
Lillian Jacobson and her mother, Jennifer Ring: Jennifer, a professor, author and supporter of Women’s baseball, and Lilly – her daughter – a stud ballplayer who I had the pleasure of playing with on the CWBL Fillies this year.
Ed Sickinger – my long-time coach whose love for us women’s baseball is undeniable. He has poured his heart and soul into our league for years, and though he has retired as the active Fillies coach, he continues to seek out opportunities for growth and exposure of the sport.
